Google Places has really changed the way SEO affects the service industry. Google does much of the work for you if you know how to take advantage of their services. Now that we have that out of the way we need to make sure you show up at the top when people search Google Places. One of the ways you can help this happen is by completing the profile with Google. Another way and most likely one of the most powerful ways of doing this is by getting your customers to tell the world how well you did in taking care of them. Ask your customers to take a moment and complete a review on your Google Places page about you and how well you did in taking care of their needs.

Google has the ability to see what the IP address is when someone completes a search. For example if I am sitting in my office in South Ogden Utah and do a search for dentists I am not going to get the results for dentists in Southern Florida, I get the results for my local Dentists. Google has done that work for you; you are not competing with every dentist on the planet, just those within your local search radius that you have listed in your account in Google places.

Understanding that a search engine influences the majority of every purchase decision from a consumer and that Google is the largest search engine in the world you may want to take some time to ensure your Google Places account is not only set up but also maintained and up to date.
